In Plain English
Lua is a powerful, efficient, lightweight, embeddable scripting language designed from the ground up for extension, game engines, embedded systems, and high-performance scripting.
Deep Dive: How It Works
What is Lua: Created in 1993 at PUC-Rio in Brazil, Lua is renowned for its tiny footprint (under 300KB), blazing speed, and clean C API.
Embeddable Architecture: Widely used inside game engines (Roblox, World of Warcraft, Defold), web servers (Nginx OpenResty), and Redis scripts.
Execution Model: Compiles source code into bytecode on the fly and executes it on an ANSI C register-based virtual machine.
Core Rules to Remember

Lightweight & Blazing Fast: One of the fastest dynamic scripting languages in existence.

Minimalist & Elegant: Small core syntax with immense flexibility provided through tables and metatables.
