In Plain English
Logical operators in Lua (`and`, `or`, `not`) short-circuit and return operands rather than strictly booleans, enabling clean conditional assignments.
Deep Dive: How It Works
and: If first operand is false/nil, returns it; otherwise returns second operand.
or: If first operand is truthy, returns it; otherwise returns second operand.
not: Always returns a boolean `true` or `false`.
Ternary Pattern: `local val = cond and true_val or false_val`.
Core Rules to Remember

Operands Returned: `"A" or "B"` returns `"A"`; `nil or "B"` returns `"B"`.

Inline Ternary: `cond and a or b` replaces ternary expressions.

Micro Exercise
Determine Access Level with and/or
Declare `local level = 5`.
Use the ternary pattern to set `local access = (level >= 5) and "Granted" or "Denied"`.
Print `"Access: " .. access`.
