Lesson 24 of 55
8 mins readPython Ranges & Lazy Iterators
In Plain English
Ranges represent sequences of numbers using minimal memory (O(1) storage). Learn UnitRange (1:10), StepRange (1:2:10), and LinRange for evenly spaced floats.
Deep Dive: How It Works
UnitRange: 1:10 stores only the start (1) and stop (10) numbers.
StepRange: 10:-2:0 creates a descending range with step -2.
LinRange: LinRange(0.0, 1.0, 5) generates 5 evenly spaced values from 0.0 to 1.0.
Iterators Module: Base.Iterators provides cycle, partition, flatten, and countfrom.
Core Rules to Remember

O(1) Memory Overhead: 1:1_000_000 occupies negligible memory until collected into an array.

LinRange for Numerical Grids: Ideal for plotting and discretizing continuous function domains.

No pressure! Edit the starter code below and test your solution with instant feedback.
Micro Exercise
Generate LinRange and Collect
Create `grid = LinRange(0, 10, 3)`.
Print `"Points: $(collect(grid))"`.
